Hey Hey...Get Over It.

It is Friday the 9th of October 2009, (9 days before my birthday) and just like nearly every day for the last two weeks, I am back at university, sitting in front of my computer doing assignments *(well obviously not right now)


And funk me, it is seriously killing me...I hate group assignments...having to depend on somebody else to have their work done on time, and praying its right, is like - sorry can't come up with a witty metaphor today -


Anyway, enough bagging out University, it is a wonderful place full of diversity, colour and beautiful personalities....I'm tuning my sarcasm and Bull-shitting skills, it helps with my assignments.


If you are Australian (and American after last night I guess) then you would know that on wednesday night the "final-new" episode of Hey Hey It's Saturday...on a Wednesday. Now some people didn't like the show while some people did...me personally, I loved it...it just went over my bedtime thats all, so I had to go to bed =[ (but I watched it in my bedroom...shhhhhh).


If you watched it than you would have seen the "Jackson Jive" red-faces performance, which to be honest wasn't very good, however if not, it basically involved a bunch of guys dancing around singing Michael Jackson songs...with their face's painted black and wearing wigs...AND THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE...*Apparently*


 Harry Connick Jr ...who? Up until the other day I had no idea who he was until he was blanketed all over B105 like some superhero. Anywhosle long story short he was offended/disgusted by the performance...as it turns out now, he is not the only one.


Now, I'm just going to stop there for a second, I have just popped back onto ninemsn.com.au to find the article and a new article has been posted which has just annoyed the hell out of me...

Because of what happened last night, the world media has now began to question whether or not Australia is a racist country ...which is just ridiculous, ignorant, simple minded, stupid and idiotic because that just hypocritical.


Connick Jr. gave the performance a '0' and than proceeded to say that if the show had aired in America it would have been taken off air (to which the world media has hailed him some kind of hero *rolls eyes*)...but thats the point! It WASN'T aired in America...it was aired here, in Australia where our care factor for political correctness is a 3...what I mean by that is we are just quite nonchalant....


A part time journo/part time pessimistic dipshit from the British newspaper the Guardian, Marina Hyde (who is very outspoken when it comes to her low level opinion of Australia) has introduced the skit as an important breakthrough in international race relations...


After her irrelevant rant about how Australia is so very undeveloped and we are all savages she started to tear Daryl Somers a new ass, "If you take a look at the mind-boggling video clip (thats right, it totally is...*idiot*), you will note that we rejoin the show after the break, during which the host seems to have had a somewhat unconvincing epiphany ... very good of him," Hyde wrote, so very sarcastically.
"In Australia, of course, [blacking up] is perfectly acceptable, and we thank the nation for yet another important contribution to the annals of human culture."


You know what, I'm going to stop there, because I feel that I am just being irrational. If you are anything like myself then once you read those articles you should feel like me so I needn't explain anymore. 


I just realised that I was taking her attack on Australia personally, like it was directed at me, which of course it wasn't ..I had planned to bag out England and America but I will not...


Daryl Somers in a moment of wisdom said recently (something along the lines of) yeah righto America and England, get as much mileage out of this as you can, we just don't care here...this is a Storm in a Teacup...which is true....I just think its funny that the media is always so quick to jump on anyone's case about everything, especially something as insignificant as this, give it a week...we wont even remember this happening...


And well shit, look at me, I just sat here and got on the media and bagged them out for getting on this like shit on velcro


I guess I am a hypocrite...
