3 Years Ago, A Retrospect

Every morning (well Tuesday through Friday) I watch the Philip DeFranco show on YouTube. --> The PDS

*I know, I shouldn't start out with a statement...nevertheless*

The other morning Phil was talking about how he has been doing his YouTube videos for 3 years now, and how he feels that he has changed in those three years, for better or for worse. At the end of the video he asked his QOTD (question of the day) and on this particular day, the question was, "where were you three years ago and what were you doing".

Which got me thinking about (for use of a better word) life...

Now for me, this time three years ago (September 2006) I had just finished the "hardest" exam block of my life (of course this is what my school wanted me to think it was, but realistically, this wasn't the case - I'm no academic - But I think schools put far to much emphasis on Grade 12 in general, it is seriously bull shit...but I'll save that topic for another blog).

So I was nearly finished school...And I had no idea what life beyond school would hold for me, a thought that scared the shit out of me.

For those of you that I went to school with, can you believe that only three years ago we were still there?

The thought of not seeing my mates everyday, no structured routine, nobody caring about whether you succeeded or failed, having to buy all my own stuff, University, getting a good OP, getting a full time job, what I even wanted to do at uni, yada yada ya, blah blah blah.

So that was then....

So what have I done in three years? I still live at home (which isn't a problem), I drive the same car, I'm still at university doing something that I'm not even sure is what I want to do and I have the same job.

I know that didn't exactly sound fantastic...

But what is fantastic however is the fact that after leaving school I have made some awesome new mates, I have travelled to America, I've worked with Audi running events, I have learnt to drive and actually own my own car (and all its damned expenses lol) , I have an unlimited 'excessive' amount of freedom, I have a quite spectacular array of technology, I am now able to have most of the things that I want (and no my parents don't buy them...I do i.e. MacBook, Xbox360, TV e.t.c), I have an amazing gir-single life and I really could go on for alot longer, but that would involve more thinking...

Its funny, despite all this, if I could go back to school, just for a day or a week, I would...

Don't get me wrong here, I wouldn't stay there HAHAHAHA...fuck no...It was a far more comfortable lifestyle, and you only realise this when the real world picks up a big stick and comes at you and smashes you in the face...   I N     T H A      F A C E   *boom*

Anywhosle, this was quite different to my other ones, and I'm not particularly in the mood to be deep at the moment (I have LOTS of assignments to do =[)

Until I'm finished all my assignments next time - *god, how cliche*
