I have trouble getting my head around what University is doing for me.
Other than depriving me of my sleep, my social life and my sanity?
I'm pretty sure people will argue that University prepares me for the "real world" and that what I learn at University will help me in the future?
I don't know about you, but I can barely remember what I learnt three weeks ago let alone in my first year of uni.
Which brings me to what I think Universities think University is all about - teaching us to learn, teaching us to manage our time efficiently, the importance of deadlines, the ability of researching the solution to problems rather than being told, to develop your own ideas and thoughts, to develop independence...?
I don't want to feel as though I'm missing the point of University - but I am now quite proficient in the art of "Googling It".
A lot of the time I find the assignments irrelevant and overweighted, the content archaic and outdated and the lectures increasingly unavailing - if all your going to do is read me the lecture slides like I'm 2 years old to put me to sleep, I'll stay at home and do that myself - and I worry that my lecturer is going to shrivel up, turn into ash and blow away...
I could go on for hours but I won't, I just hope I'm not alone here.
